NEWPORT, Ky. — Newport Aquarium is hosting a group of WWII veterans from the 16th Armored Division on Patriot Day (Sept. 11) for a luncheon in the Riverside Room and a complimentary Ride the Ducks tour.
The veterans are from the Northern Kentucky chapter of the 16th Armored Division Association. They hold a reunion once a year in September.
To show gratitude to the WWII veterans, Newport Aquarium and Ride the Ducks have reached out to Newport on the Levee tenants, asking them to line up as many people as possible along the sidewalk by the Ride the Ducks entrance (along Third Street in front of the Redondo Taqueria restaurant) at 1:30 p.m. ET.
The public is encouraged to participate by bringing signs and American flags in support of the veterans as they make their way from Newport Aquarium to their Ride the Ducks tour.
The Ride the Ducks vehicle, a replica WWII DUKW, will depart at 2 p.m. and the veterans will begin their tour of downtown Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
